NEW ALBUM: My Brand New Album for Universal ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ is Out Now!

MY BRAND NEW ALBUM for UNIVERSAL ‘Unsolved Mysteries‘ OUT NOW!

On 13 August 2018, my first album for Universal, the world’s biggest production music library, was released – ‘Unsolved Mysteries’.

Written alongside Jason Pedder & Dougie Brown, ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ has a deep Neo Noir theme, conjuring up feelings of true crime, suspense, unsolved cases and mysterious documentary stories.

The album is 14 tracks in all. Here’s a selection…
Covert Assignment – Noir piano and subtle electronic fx build light tension.
Cyber Stealth – Busy bell synth patterns and treated piano for investigation and movement.
Lost Files – Off-kilter bells and percussion for an air of mystery and expectation.
Hidden Intention – Simple, percussive underscore builds suspense and movement.
Secret Family – Neutral documentary underscore, time passing.
Far East Mystery – Subtle Far East mystery bed with Erhu violin @ 39 seconds.

Enjoy listening to the tracks – you might want to keep the light on.

MUSIC ON: Track ‘Thirst for Life’ featured on ‘Sweet Ride – Smart Energy GB’ Advert

My track ‘Thirst for Life‘ featured on ‘Sweet Ride – Smart Energy GB‘ Advert.

Advert: Smart Energy GB – Smart Meters Sweet Ride
Music: Barrie Gledden & Richard Kimmings – Thirst For Life

One of a pair of Smart Energy GB TV ads promoting smart meters, this one features Malcolm and his mobility scooter. The song is called Thirst For Life, by Barrie Gledden and Richard Kimmings, from the Audio Network 80’s Hair Rock collection.

Smart Energy GB switch up their approach with their latest campaign – now Gaz and Leccy free. In place of their animated mascots, the brand introduce a pair of live action companions – a grandfather and his grandson.

The film sees the pair take an amusingly low-octane road trip – and their relationship is nicely drawn as they sample fish and chips, museum trips, and ice cream. It’s a neat way to illustrate the amount of power that can be saved with a smart meter from the advertised company – enough to fuel plenty of future fun.

Thirst for Life‘ was part of the 80’s Hair Rock project I was involved in with Barrie Gledden, Kes Loy & Chris Bussey.

There’s a few blogs about the project if you would like to find out more…

Enjoy the music!

MUSIC ON: ‘Going for a Song’ Short Animation Featuring My Track ‘Twists and Turns’

I’ve recently been involved with the creation of music (writing, recording, mixing & mastering) for a new short animation helping people understand how copyright works.

The animation, for CopyrightUser.org via AudioNetwork, follows the writing of a song from inception to getting it ‘out’ & heard by the public.

Produced by ‘Worth Knowing Productions Ltd.‘, they took my track ‘Twists and Turns‘ and reverse engineered it – going from humming the tune, to adding lyrics; recording it, to performing it and making it available to buy, download or use.

The original track is here. Written by myself, Barrie Gledden & Key Loy.
Additional vocals & music were added for the animation by Kes Loy & Lucy Kimmings.

Over 400+ Tracks Released on AudioNetwork!

an

I’m very pleased to announce that my track count has now topped the 400 mark!

I’ve been writing for AudioNetwork since it’s inception in the early 2000s, and along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the best people and studios in the business.

Here’s how I got here…
Richard began playing drums and percussion at the age of 11. Having studied percussion at school and playing with various youth orchestras, he became active on the local band scene at the tender age of 13 and soon established a name for himself as a drummer and writer.

On leaving school, Richard toured extensively with major bands such as WhitesnakeZakk Wylde’s Pride & GloryGun and Dogs D’Amour. In 1996 he became a member of the rock band Old Man Stone (Revolver), performing to festival crowds of 20,000 and including sessions for MTV & MTV Europe.

Having always had a keen interest in every aspect of music and its production, Richard completed a degree in Music Technology and then went on to teach Popular Music, Music Technology and Drums at Huddersfield Music College for 9 years alongside touring & recording. Whilst there, Richard taught Justin Hawkins (The Darkness) and engineered recording sessions for Sisters of MercyCorinne Bailey Rae and Aswad.

Having let touring take a back seat, Richard focused more on composing and designed & built his own studio. He started writing albums for various production music companies before being welcomed into the nest of Audio Network in 2001.

Richard has composed music for films such as ElleKick Ass 2 and The Big Tease plus trailers for Anchorman 2TokarevCarrieSALSo Undercover and The Babymakers.

His writing for Audio Network has seen Richard record at Abbey Road Studio 2 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and his music can be heard on BBC TV & Radio, ITVChannel 4Five and Sky and U.S. networks NBCCBS and Fox, to name but a few.
